Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the ue of dik diameter a an indicator in the identification of glaucomatou optic neuropathy.
Method
We evaluated all available tereofundu photograph for 1,040 right eye obtained in the Reykjavik Eye tudy. Horizontal and vertical dik diameter were determined in a maked manner by a glaucoma pecialit (K.F.D.). All dik diameter were corrected for refractive error.
Reult
There were ignificant difference (P < .05) between the corrected vertical dik diameter of normal ubject (0.189 ± 0.018 inche) and thoe upected of having glaucoma (0.202 ± 0.020 inche) a well a between the normal and the glaucoma group (0.206 ± 0.029 inche). The corrected horizontal meaurement howed the ame pattern.
Concluion
In the Reykjavik Eye tudy, optic dik meeting tructural criteria for glaucoma are ignificantly larger than normal nerve.
