Purpoe
To report an aociation between retinal vein occluion and increaed plama level of hitidine-rich glycoprotein.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
A 56-year-old woman preented with udden and painle decreae of viual acuity of her right eye. Indirect ophthalmocopy revealed retinal vein occluion. he had experienced central retinal vein occluion in thi eye 6 year earlier.
Reult
The patient’ medical hitory wa negative for cardiovacular rik factor. Further invetigation into poible caue revealed increaed value for hitidine-rich glycoprotein.
Concluion
When ordering laboratory tet in patient with retinal vein occluion to rule out coagulation diorder, increaed plama level of hitidine-rich glycoprotein hould be conidered in the differential diagnoi. elective creening may be helpful in identifying retinal vein occluion patient with thrombophilic defect, epecially in young individual with recurrent retinal vein occluion in the abence of recognized cardiovacular rik factor.
