Abstract :
Purpoe To decribe the effect of topical tacrolimu treatment of evere atopic eyelid dieae. Deign Interventional conecutive cae erie. Method A decription of clinical finding and therapeutic repone for five conecutive adult patient (mean age, 56.2 year; range 44–62) treated with topical tacrolimu for evere atopic eyelid dieae at one intitution. Reult Five patient with bilateral atopic eyelid dieae that wa refractory to treatment with topical corticoteroid were treated with tacrolimu 0.03% ointment, applied to the affected eyelid kin of both eye twice daily. Eyelid induration, erythema, and eczematou change were ubtantially improved within 1 to 3 week after initiation of topical tacrolimu treatment in all patient. There wa an aociated decreae in ocular urface irritation and inflammatory ign in each of four patient who alo had atopic keratoconjunctiviti. No advere effect aociated with tacrolimu treatment wa noted during continued treatment for 5 to 14 month. All patient were able to dicontinue longtanding ue of topical corticoteroid drug. Concluion Application of topical tacrolimu on eyelid kin may be effective for treatment of evere atopic dermatiti of the eyelid, and may have econdary benefit for atopic keratoconjunctiviti. Topical tacrolimu may be ued for at leat 1 year without apparent advere reaction in ome patient, although the rate of advere reaction cannot be determined from thi mall erie.
