Reolution of leukemic retinopathy following treatment with imatinib meylate for chronic myelogenou leukemia

Purpoe To report a cae of leukemic retinopathy before and after treatment with imatinib meylate (formerly TI-571) for chronic myelogenou leukemia (CML). Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 58-year-old man diagnoed with table phae CML (P-CML) preented with blurry viion. Fundocopy revealed everal flame-haped hemorrhage in the macular region in both eye. One month after thi initial viit, imatinib therapy wa initiated. Reult The patient noticed improvement in hi viual a well a hi medical ymptom; on repeat examination 6 month after the initial viit, the retinal hemorrhage had reolved and remained o after 18 month. Concluion Imatinib appear to be an effective treatment for P-CML, and the improvement in viual and medical ymptom in our cae report correlate with thi.
