Abstract :
Purpoe
To report a cae of peripheral retinal nonperfuion and chronic myeloid leukemia in a 23-year-old woman.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
A complete ophthalmic and ytemic evaluation wa performed.
Reult
Ophthalmic examination revealed peripheral retinal nonperfuion with retinal neovacularization in both eye. Fluorecein angiography of both eye howed a marked midperipheral and peripheral avacular retina temporally with arteriovenou anatomoi and eafan neovacularization. Blood work howed no abnormalitie, although marked leucocytoi (up to 750 × 109/l) and thrombocytoi (646 × 109/l) were preent in 1998 when the patient wa diagnoed with leukemia. Following treatment, the patient ha been in remiion.
Concluion
Peripheral retinal nonperfuion with retinal neovacularization may occur a a complication of chronic myeloid leukemia. In contrat to other tudie decribing thi aociation, our patient had a bilateral peripheral retinal nonperfuion with eafan neovacularization without relape of the myeloid leukemia and without any of the other retinal ign aociated with chronic myeloid leukemia, uch a tortuoity of vein, intraretinal or preretinal hemorrhage, and cotton–wool exudate.
