Abstract :
Purpoe
To report the importance of optical coherence tomographic (OCT) evaluation of a macular hole caued by neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laer injury.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
A 33-year-old man preented with an accidental Nd:YAG laer-induced macular hole in hi right eye. After oberving the coure of the macular hole by OCT, the macular hole wa treated by tandard par plana vitrectomy. The appearance of the macular hole wa alo followed up potoperatively.
Reult
even day after the injury, OCT howed a full-thickne macular hole without a fluid-cuff or welling of the urrounding retina. Twenty-one day after the injury, however, OCT dicloed that the retina around the macular hole wa wollen. After vitrectomy, OCT howed that the macular hole wa cloed, and the viual acuity improved from 20/30 to 20/20.
Concluion
urgical treatment can improve the viual function of eye with a Nd:YAG laer-induced macular hole. Optical coherence tomography i valuable in providing precie information about the condition of the macula.
