Purpoe To report a patient with a branch retinal vein occluion aociated with lipemia retinali. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 58-year-old woman preented with decreaed viion and wa found to have a branch retinal vein occluion with maive lipid exudation in the etting of lipemia retinali. Laboratory teting demontrated an abnormal lipid profile with a markedly elevated triglyceride level. The etting wa a retina ervice in a major referral center. Reult Management of the hypertriglyceridemia with medication, exercie, and dietary modification reolved the lipemia retinali and wa aociated with improvement in viual function. Concluion Although uually not viually ignificant, lipemia retinali may be aociated with vacular pathology, uch a a branch retinal vein occluion with marked exudative repone and decreaed viual acuity. Becaue of potential ytemic and ocular complication of lipemia retinali, thee patient hould be referred for management of their lipid diorder.
