Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the correlation between progreion rate of glaucomatou damage and retrobulbar blood flow in an intitutional etting.
Deign
Retropective, obervational cae erie.
Method
Twenty open-angle glaucoma patient with at leat five viual field examination and progreive damage in at leat one eye were included in the tudy. Mean ± tandard deviation follow-up time wa 4.3 ± 1.6 year. A an indicator of progreion rate of viual field damage, the angle to a horizontal line of the lope of the regreion line of the viual field index mean defect over time wa calculated for one randomly elected eye per patient. The aociation between thi angle and intraocular preure, a well a retrobulbar color Doppler imaging meaurement obtained at the beginning of the obervation period, wa analyzed by a multiple linear regreion analyi in a tepwie forward approach.
Reult
With a fater rate in progreion of glaucomatou damage, a lower baeline end diatolic blood flow velocity in the central retinal artery (partial r = −.63; P < .0037) and a higher baeline intraocular preure (partial r = .59; P < .0078) were noted (multiple r = .69; P < .0043). Rate of progreion wa not related to the extent of preexiting viual field damage.
Concluion
Independent of the extent of glaucomatou damage and intraocular preure, the progreion rate of glaucomatou viual field damage tatitically correlate with retrobulbar hemodynamic variable.
