Purpoe To report a patient with Takayau dieae with evere proliferative retinopathy progreing to bilateral blindne. A 57-year-old Japanee woman uffering from Takayau dieae for 16 year manifeted evere proliferative retinopathy in both eye, leading to blindne due to optic atrophy. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 57-year-old Japanee woman uffering from Takayau dieae for 16 year underwent a comprehenive opthalmologic examination. Panretinal photocoagulation and vitrectomy were performed on both eye. etting Intitutional practice. Reult At initial examination, the patient wa found to have evere proliferative retinopathy with tractional retinal detachment in both eye. The retinal detachment were repaired by the vitrectomy, however, the patient developed bilateral blindne due to optic atrophy. Concluion Patient with a long hitory of Takayau dieae can demontrate evere proliferative retinopathy that may be reitant to photocoagulation and/or vitreou urgery. Ocular ichemia can lead to blindne from ichemic optic neuropathy.
