Abstract :
Purpoe Occult macular dytrophy (OMD) i an inherited macular dytrophy characterized by a progreive macular dyfunction without any viible fundu abnormality. We tudied the foveal thickne in patient with OMD uing optical coherence tomography (OCT). Deign Obervational cae erie. Foveal thickne by OCT image. Method Foveal thickne obtained from 22 eye of 11 patient with OMD wa compared with that from 27 eye of 20 age-matched normal control. Reult Mean foveal thickne in the patient group (96.5 ± 19.5 μm) wa ignificantly thinner than that in the normal control (133.3 ± 9.0 μm, P < .0001, Mann–Whitney U tet). Eighteen of 22 eye with OMD had foveal thickne that were thinner than the lower limit of the normal range. There wa no tatitically ignificant correlation between the foveal thickne and viual acuity, age, or duration from onet. Conculuion Thee reult demontrated that there are ignificant anatomic change in the macula of patient with OMD.
