Abstract
Purpoe
To evaluate ocular finding in hopitalized children with ytemic Candida pecie infection.
Deign
Retropective review of inpatient hopital conultation.
Method
Inpatient hopital conultation performed by a pediatric ophthalmology ervice over a 30-month period were reviewed.
Reult
Of 600 conultation performed by the ervice, 30 were to rule out ocular finding in patient with upected or known candida infection. No patient had ocular finding conitent with endophthalmiti or chorioretiniti. One patient had nonpecific finding of multiytem organ failure, and one had vacular finding econdary to elevated pulmonary venou preure.
Concluion
In contrat to the reult of tudie performed 10 to 15 year ago, ocular involvement i highly unuual in children with candidemia, but uch conultation account for a ubtantial workload. Further attention to rik factor aociated with ocular infection i warranted.
