Photodynamic therapy with verteporfin for ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization in children

Purpoe To report the afety of photodynamic therapy with verteporfin in three children. Deign Retropective interventional noncomparative cae erie. Method Children identified from all patient treated with verteporfin therapy at a univerity-baed practice had record reviewed for advere retinal or ytemic event. Reult Patient aged 11, 11, and 13 year, with ubfoveal idiopathic choroidal neovacularization (CNV) received verteporfin therapy with no ocular complication recognized either immediately after the procedure or during the follow-up from 7 to 12 month. Treatment reulted in ceation of fluorecence leakage from CNV by the lat follow-up viit in two patient and reduced leakage from the leion in one. The viual acuity change wa + 4, +7, and 0 line. Concluion Verteporfin therapy in three children with ubfoveal CNV wa aociated with table or improved viion during hort-term follow-up in the abence of eriou ocular or ytemic advere event.
