Purpoe To evaluate the outcome of urgerie for macular hole uing trypan blue to facilitate delamination of the internal limiting membrane. Deign A retropective erie of 18 patient. Method All patient underwent a three-port par plana vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane delamination uing trypan blue 0.06% to ait viualization. The main outcome meaure were potoperative viual acuity and clinically evident retinal pigment epithelial change. Reult The median preoperative viual acuity wa 20/200, and the median potoperative viual acuity wa 20/70. All but one macular hole were cloed after urgery (94%). At the lat recorded follow-up, 10 patient (56%) had improved viual acuity of at leat two chart line. No advere reaction related to trypan blue wa oberved up to 1 year poturgery. Concluion Trypan blue taining of internal limiting membrane may accomplih more complete diection of the internal limiting membrane and better urgical and viual outcome.
