Artian toric phakic intraocular len for the correction of high atigmatim

Purpoe To evaluate efficacy, predictability, and afety of Artian toric phakic intraocular len (Ophtec, Groningen, The Netherland) implantation for the correction of atigmatim higher than 2 diopter. Deign Interventional cae erie. Method Thi propective tudy included 27 eye of 16 patient with a mean preoperative pherical equivalent of –11.78 ± 6.24 diopter and a mean preoperative atigmatim of −3.43 ± 0.81. The Artian phakic intraocular len wa inerted in the anterior chamber through a poterior corneal inciion; the technique i imilar to the implantation of the claical Artian len, but in thee cae it i particularly important to ecure the len accurately in the correct axi. The main parameter evaluated in thi tudy were uncorrected viual acuity, bet-corrected viual acuity, refraction, and endothelial cell count. Reult Twelve month after the implantation of the Artian toric phakic intraocular len, 62.90% of the eye were within ±0.50 diopter. of emmetropia and 96.20% within ±1.0 diopter. eventy percent of the eye gained 1 or more nellen line from their preoperative bet-corrected viual acuity, and 11.11% lot 1 nellen line. Mean endothelial cell count increaed 2.9%. Mean of the parallel and orthogonal component of cylinder correction were 1.97 diopter and 0.10 diopter, repectively, of the intended cylinder change. The mean of axi alignment error wa 10.53 degree. No eriou complication were oberved. Concluion Artian toric phakic intraocular len implantation appear to be a afe and predictable method for the correction of high level of atigmatim.
