Abstract :
Purpoe : To evaluate pulatile ocular blood flow (POBF) analyi in normal ubject and glaucoma patient by comparion of POBF meaurement with functional (a determined by viual field [VF]) and tructural (a determined by optical coherence tomography [OCT]) meaure. Deign : Propective, cro-ectional tudy. Method : Forty-one eye of 24 conecutive glaucoma patient and 20 eye of 10 healthy ubject were tudied; POBF analyi wa performed on all ubject at the ame viit a VF teting and OCT retinal nerve fiber layer (NFL) thickne meaurement. The mean reult of normal and glaucomatou eye were compared for each method. Correlation between meaurement obtained with each modality and the dicriminating power uing receiver operator characteritic curve wa teted. Reult : The mean POBF (tandard deviation [D]) in the normal group wa 1,010.4 (292.8) μl/min and 989.3 (305.5) μl/min in the glaucoma group (P = .90). ignificant difference between group were found for VF mean deviation and pattern tandard deviation (P = .02, P = .004, repectively) and OCT mean NFL thickne (P < .0001). No correlation wa found between POBF parameter and intraocular preure, VF, or OCT variable except for intraocular preure in glaucoma group (r = −.43, P = .003). The area under the receiver operator characteritic curve wa higher for VF indexe and OCT mean NFL thickne than POBF parameter for ditinguihing between normal and glaucomatou eye. Concluion : The wide range of normal value and the low dicriminating power of POBF between normal and glaucomatou eye limit the clinical ue of the device for glaucoma patient.
