To report the effect to the eye following contact with pider content.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
A 46-year-old man preented with a painful and inflamed eye after content of a pider got into hi right eye when he quahed the pider with a newpaper. He uffered immediate evere pain in the eye, which rapidly became red and wollen. He had conjunctival edema and periorbital welling of the eye and evere photophobia, but hi viion wa normal.
Reult
Topical local anethetic wa applied to the right eye, which wa then fluhed with normal aline for an hour. The redne and welling began to reolve over 2 hour.
Concluion
Ocular expoure to the content of a pider can caue evere pain, welling, and redne aociated with photophobia. The effect are hort term, o reaurance, irrigation, and ymptomatic treatment are ufficient.
