  • Abstract
Purpoe To determine whether central corneal thickne (CCT) i a rik factor for viual field lo development among patient diagnoed with preperimetric glaucomatou optic neuropathy (GON). Deign Obervational cohort tudy. Method The tudy included 98 eye of 98 patient with GON, with a mean follow-up time of 4.3 ± 2.7 year. Diagnoi of GON wa baed on maked aement of optic dik tereophotograph. All patient had normal tandard automated perimetry viual field at baeline. Criteria for viual field abnormality were derived from a prior tudy. everal clinical factor (CCT, intraocular preure, vertical cup-to-dik ratio, refraction, age, gender, family hitory of glaucoma, high blood preure, cardiovacular dieae, and migraine) were invetigated to acertain whether there i an aociation with development of repeatable viual field lo. Cox proportional hazard model were ued to obtain hazard ratio (HR) and identify factor that predicted which individual developed glaucomatou viual field lo during the follow-up period. Reult Thirty-four patient (35%) developed repeatable viual field abnormality during follow-up. In multivariate analyi, rik factor that predicted the development of viual field lo were a thinner CCT (adjuted HR = 1.62/40 μm thinner; P = .023; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.07–2.45), higher baeline intraocular preure (adjuted HR = 1.07/mm Hg; P = .022; 95% CI: 1.01–1.14), and larger baeline vertical cup-to-dik ratio (adjuted HR = 1.63/0.1 larger; P = .009; 95% CI: 1.13–2.35). The mean ± tandard deviation CCT of GON patient who developed viual field lo wa 543 ± 36 μm compared with 565 ± 35 μm of thoe who did not develop viual field abnormalitie (P = .005, tudent t tet). Concluion Central corneal thickne i a rik factor for development of viual field lo among patient diagnoed with preperimetric GON. It i important to conider CCT when etablihing target intraocular preure of patient with GON
