Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the anatomical and viual outcome in macular hole patient who underwent urgery with infracyanine green-aited internal limiting membrane peeling.
Deign
A propective cae erie with 51 conecutive eye of 49 patient with idiopathic, iatrogenic, or traumatic tage 2, 3, or 4 macular hole.
Method
After removing the vitreou, in all eye infracyanine green-aited removal of the internal limiting membrane wa performed. Patient older than 65 year of age underwent a imultaneou phacoemulification. At the end of urgery, a ilicone oil tamponade wa ued in all cae, and all patient were aked to poition face down for 24 hour. Optical coherence tomography wa performed preoperatively and potoperatively to determine the macular hole tage/ize and the anatomical cloure rate, repectively.
Reult
The mean follow-up time wa 9.8 month (range, 6–26 month). The overall median duration between the firt ymptom and the urgery wa 5 month. The overall anatomical ucce rate after one urgery wa 92% (47 eye), while that of chronic and nonchronic one wa 72.3% and 97.5%, repectively. The median preoperative viual acuity wa 20/160 (range, 20/30 to counting finger) and increaed to 20/50 (range, 20/20 to 20/400) potoperatively. The mean increae in viual acuity wa 3.7 line (range, −4 to 10 line). Of all 51 operated-on eye, 26 (51%) eye had a final viual acuity of 20/50 or better.
Concluion
Thee finding indicate that infracyanine green-aited removal of the retinal internal limiting membrane appear to induce a high incidence of anatomical cloure, with good viual outcome.
