Abstract
Purpoe
To report a cae of evere bilateral deep tromal neovacularization and opacification aociated with unmonitored contact len wear.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
A 46-year-old woman who had been uing hydrogel contact lene bought on the Internet without a precription for 5 year wa found to have dene, bilateral corneal opacitie with deep tromal neovacularization.
Reult
The patientʹ contact lene were found to be tight-fitting. Medical hitory and erological tudie were negative for infectiou or rheumatologic caue of intertitial keratiti.
Concluion
The deep tromal neovacularization and the aociated corneal opacification are mot likely related to the unmonitored contact len ue and the lack of routine eye examination. We believe it i critical that all contact len wearer receive profeional eye care on a regular bai regardle of where they obtain their contact len upplie
