Patient
Five vitrectomized, diabetic, peudophakic patient with peritent vitreou cavity hemorrhage remaining after vitrectomy were elected. They all had a poterior chamber IOL implant with an intact poterior capule. Additionally, they had all undergone laer panretinal photocoagulation in the involved eye in the pat for diabetic retinopathy. Neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laer capulotomy outide the optic of the IOL wa performed in victrectomized diabetic patient to treat the remaining vitreou cavity hemorrhage. Viual acuity, intraocular preure (IOP), and fundu examination were meaured and done immediately after the laer procedure, in 7 day and in approximately 3 month.
Reult
The viual acuity wa improved at the time of the firt follow-up. However, a mild elevation of IOP wa noticed in ome patient, which wa treated with topical dorzolamide. The final viual acuity wa dramatically improved, to 20/30 or better, and the IOP wa normalized without medication within a few week in all five cae. No neovacularization of the iri or elewhere wa noticed in any cae.
Concluion
Neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laer peripheral capulotomy appear to be a afe and effective management procedure in treating potvitrectomy hemorrhage in diabetic patient who have previouly undergone cataract urgery with poterior chamber len implant, intact poterior capule, and extenive panretinal photocoagulation. The vitreou hemorrhage cleared completely in all five cae.
