Abstract :
Purpoe To compare optic nerve head (ONH) and peripapillary retinal blood flow in ubject with open-angle glaucoma (OAG), ocular hypertenion (OHT), and normal eye (NOR) uing full-field perfuion analyi of canning laer Doppler flowmetry (LDF) image. Deign Propective, nonrandomized clinical trial. Method Twenty uncontrolled OAG patient, 20 uncontrolled OHT patient, and 20 normal volunteer were propectively enrolled. Mean ONH and peripapillary retinal blood flow meaurement were performed by LDF verion 3.3 uing five Heidelberg Retina Flowmeter (Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany) image. tatitical evaluation were performed on the three tudy group uing one-way analyi of variance. Flow value of the neuroretinal rim of the ONH, naal peripapillary retina, and temporal peripapillary retina were then correlated with the clinical parameter of age, cup/dik (C/D) ratio, intraocular preure (IOP), viual field mean defect, maximum-recorded IOP, and ocular perfuion preure. Reult Neuroretinal rim blood flow in the OAG group wa 158 ± 79 arbitrary unit (au), wherea in the OHT group it wa 277 ± 158 au, and in the NOR group it wa 272 ± 93 au. Difference were tatitically ignificant between the OAG group and each of the other group (P = .001) but not between OHT and NOR group (P = .91). Peripapillary retinal flow value howed no tatitically ignificant difference between group (P = .76 naal and 0.93 temporal). Neuroretinal rim flow value howed a ignificant invere correlation with C/D ratio (P = .001). Mean neuroretinal rim blood flow wa ignificantly higher (350 ± 184 au) in the 10 OHT patient with C/D ratio < 0.4 when compared with the 10 OHT patient with larger C/D ratio (203 ± 79 au) (P = .039). Converely, peripapillary retinal blood flow howed no ignificant correlation with any clinical parameter. Concluion Open-angle glaucoma patient had ignificantly lower blood flow in the ONH compared with OHT patient and normal volunteer. No ignificant difference in ONH blood flow were found between ocular hypertenive and normal volunteer. For peripapillary retinal blood flow, no ignificant difference wa een between any group. Neuroretinal rim blood flow wa ignificantly inverely correlated to increaed C/D ratio. Ocular hypertenive with larger C/D ratio demontrated ignificantly lower rim blood flow compared with thoe with maller C/D ratio, uggeting that rim perfuion might be reduced in high-rik ocular hypertenive before the manifetation of viual field defect.
