Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe the ophthalmocopic and optical coherence tomographically determined retinovitreou interface before and after the development of a macular hole econdary to an accidental laer injury.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
Ophthalmocopic and optical coherence tomography (OCT) finding in a 53-year-old man wereevaluated before and after the macular hole formationecondary to a laer injury. Viual function wa followed for 9 month after urgery.
Reult
A 53-year-old man utained injury to hi right eye by a Ti: apphire laer. On the following day, hi corrected viual acuity wa 0.3, and a mall pigment epithelial atrophy wa preent in the right foveal area. No macular hole wa detected by OCT and the retinovitreal interface wa normal. Fifty-three day later, a full-thickne macular hole appeared, and no poterior vitreou detachment wa detected by OCT. The hole wa cloed by urgery with final bet-corrected viual acuity of 0.7.
Concluion
Macular hole can develop without viible traction on the retina and can occur long after retinal injury.
