Mechanim of topiramate-induced acute-onet myopia and angle cloure glaucoma

Deign Interventional cae report. Method In an intitutional practice etting, two women, aged 25 and 45, developed acute myopia after tarting topiramate for epilepy. One patient alo developed bilateral angle cloure glaucoma. Reult Topiramate wa dicontinued. Anterior chamber hallowing wa noted in both patient at preentation. Ultraonography howed ciliochoroidal effuion. Baeline meaurement of anterior chamber depth and len thickne were obtained. Concluion Topiramate may be aociated with ciliochoroidal effuion with forward diplacement of the len-iri diaphragm and anterior chamber hallowing, reulting in acute myopia and angle-cloure glaucoma. Increaed len thickne contribute only minimally (9%–16%) to anterior chamber hallowing.
