Abstract :
Purpoe
To report two cae of ocular perforation during chalazion removal procedure leading to evere viion lo.
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
Two patient preented with unilateral decreaed viion after chalazion removal procedure. Complete ophthalmologic examination were performed.
Reult
Examination revealed a cherry red pot and perforation ite in the firt patient. In the econd patient, there wa an intraocular ga bubble and ichemic retina.
Concluion
Local anethetic injection for procedure uch a chalazia removal can reult in ocular perforation. We potulate that the intraocular injection led to extremely high preure, compromiing the blood upply to the retina and optic nerve. Anethetic injection for all procedure, even chalazia removal, hould be done with great caution. It i imperative to avoid injection if ocular perforation i upected, a the high preure may caue the majority of the viual morbidity
