Abstract :
Purpoe To decribe the tudy deign of the Confocal canning Laer Ophthalmocopy (CLO) Ancillary tudy to the Ocular Hypertenion Treatment tudy (OHT) and to examine the aociation between optic dik topography, and baeline demographic, clinical, and ocular factor at tudy entry. Deign A randomized clinical trial. Method Participant in thi ancillary tudy were recruited from even of the 22 OHT clinical center. Each participant completed imaging annually uing a CLO, the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT). Aociation between HRT topographic optic dik meaurement and intraocular preure (IOP), baeline photographic etimate of horizontal and vertical cup-to-dik diameter ratio by the OHT Optic Dik Reading Center, baeline viual field indice, and demographic and clinical factor were aeed uing linear mixed effect model. Reult Four hundred thirty-nine participant had good quality image and were included in thi baeline analyi. No aociation between HRT topographic optic dik meaurement and diabete, ytemic hypertenion, cardiovacular dieae, IOP, or viual function were found. The HRT topographic optic dik meaurement were aociated with baeline tereophotographic etimate of horizontal and vertical cup-to-dik diameter ratio. The tronget aociation were found between tereophotographic aement of horizontal and vertical cup-to-dik diameter ratio, and HRT cup-to-dik area ratio (r = .85 and .84, repectively), rim-to-dik area ratio (r = −.85 and −.84, repectively), mean cup depth (r = .84 and .83, repectively), and cup area (r = .83 and .80, repectively). After adjuting for optic dik area, all HRT topographic optic dik meaurement remained aociated with tereophotographic aement of horizontal and vertical cup-to-dik diameter ratio. Concluion The CLO ancillary tudy to the OHT i the firt multicenter clinical trial to ue CLO imaging to monitor change in the optic dik. At tudy entry, HRT topographic meaurement correponded well with both horizontal and vertical tereophotographic-baed etimate of cup-to-dik diameter ratio in ocular hypertenive participant.
