Hemorrhagic complication in an unupected macular choroidal melanoma

Purpoe To report a rare preentation of a hemorrhagic complication in a patient with unupected macular choroidal melanoma. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 32-year-old Chinee woman preented with diturbance of her left central viion. A hemorrhagic ma at the macula wa noticed that wa evacuated by ubmacular urgery. Reult The ma expanded rapidly into a muhroom configuration after urgery. Fine-needle apiration confirmed the diagnoi of malignant choroidal melanoma, and enucleation followed. Hitology demontrated moderately large epithelioid tumor cell with prominent nucleoli. The clera wa intact, and the optic nerve wa not involved. The patient ha been followed for 5 year without ign of local recurrence or metatai. Concluion We hould be alert for atypical preentation of choroidal melanoma. Unneceary or inadvertent urgical intervention may induce tumor growth and ubequent local pread or metatai.
