Abstract :
Purpoe
To report anatomic and viual outcome after vitrectomy and adjunctive retinal internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling with and without intravitreal indocyanine green for idiopathic macular hole repair.
Deign
Retropective comparative tudy of conecutive cae erie.
Method
Three conecutive group of idiopathic macular hole cae underwent modification of urgical technique. Group I (48 eye of 47 patient) underwent a tandard vitrectomy, fluid/ga exchange, and 1 weekʹ face-down poitioning, group II (21 eye of 21 patient) an adjunctive ILM peeling without ue of indocyanine green, and group III (28 eye of 28 patient) an adjunctive peeling of ILM tained with intravitreal application of 0.1 to 0.2 ml of 0.5% indocyanine green dye.
Reult
Three group of patient had comparable clinical characteritic a to age, gender, etimated duration of macular hole, preoperative viual acuity, and follow-up time. The rate of macular hole cloure after a ingle urgery, a determined by optical coherence topography wa 85.4% in group I, 85.7% in group II, and 100% in group III. Group I and II howed a tatitically ignificant viual improvement, but group III did not how ignificant viual acuity improvement a the mean logarithm of the minimal angle of reolution viual acuity wa from 0.767 (20/120) preoperatively to 0.691 (20/100) potoperatively (P = .342). Eight cae in group III developed within a few potoperative month of optic dik pallor and irreverible peripheral viual field lo, predominately affecting the naal field.
Concluion
Intravitreal indocyanine green-aited ILM peeling improve anatomic ucce in macular hole urgery, but it may potentially lead to unfavorable viual acuity outcome and peripheral viual field lo.
