Method In an intitutional etting five patient with high myopia (ix eye), and who had progreive viual impairment preumably due to myopic foveochii were tudied. No eye had a macular hole preoperatively baed on optical coherence tomography (OCT). We performed vitrectomy including vitreou cortex removal, internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling, and ga tamponade. Patient were followed for at leat 6 month. Bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA), OCT. canning laer ophthalmocope (LO) microperimetry wa examined in three eye. Reult The foveal detachment reolved completely in five eye and partially in one eye. No eriou complication developed including macular hole formation or retinal detachment; BCVA improved more than two line in all eye (100%) 6 month potoperatively (P < .01); LO microperimetry howed maller cotoma compared with preoperatively and tabilized fixation. Concluion Vitrectomy with vitreou cortex removal, ILM peeling, and ga tamponade could be ueful to treat myopic foveochii in highly myopic eye. Becaue the natural coure of the dieae i not well-undertood, further tudy hould etablih indication for thi urgery.
