Abstract :
Purpoe To ae the applicability of cheimpflug videophotography ytem for the quantitative comparion of poterior capule opacification after intraocular len (IOL) implantation of different material. Deign Retropective, nonrandomized, interventional cae erie. Method Three group (n = 15 eye, each) underwent cataract urgery with implantation of acrylic, ilicone, or hydrogel IOL. One year after urgery, the catter light denity at the anterior IOL urface level wa meaured uing EA-1000. Another three group (n = 32 eye, each) received acrylic, ilicone, or hydrogel len. One week after urgery, the catter light denity at the poterior capule wa meaured. Reult catter light denity at the anterior IOL urface 1 year after implantation wa 7.5 ± 3.0 computer-compatible tape (CCT) tep in the acrylic group, 6.0 ± 2.3 CCT tep in the ilicone group, and 5.0 ± 3.2 CCT tep in the hydrogel group; the denity in the acrylic group wa ignificantly greater than that in the hydrogel group (P = .026). catter light denity at the poterior capule level 1 week after urgery wa 28.3 ± 8.9 CCT tep in the acrylic group, 22.2 ± 2.0 CCT tep in the ilicone group, and 26.7 ± 6.7 CCT tep in the hydrogel group; there wa a ignificant difference between the acrylic and ilicone group (P = .0005) and between the ilicone and hydrogel group (P = .008). Concluion The IOL material ignificantly influence the catter light denity meaurement of cheimpflug videophotography ytem, and thu the intenity of poterior capule opacification quantified by thi ytem cannot be directly compared with different optic material
