Purpoe To report a new wide-angle viewing contact len for vitrectomy. Deign New urgical intrument. Method The new wide-angle viewing len i made of gla and polymethyl methacrylate without a platic rim. The diameter i reduced to 16.2 mm. In addition to a maller diameter than the currently available len, the new len i partially cut to reduce the len diameter. Reult A maller diameter make it poible to eliminate contact between urgical intrument and the wide-angle len. Intrument can be inerted through clerotomie without removing the wide-angle len. The optical propertie are otherwie identical to the tandard wide-angle len. Concluion The new wide-angle viewing len may be eaier to ue in vitreou urgery.
