Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the efficacy, predictability, and afety of topographically upported cutomized ablation (TOCA) for decentered ablation following laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK).
Deign
Propective nonrandomized clinical trial.
Method
Nine patient (11 eye) with LAIK-induced decentered ablation underwent TOCA following flap lifting. Topographically upported cutomized ablation wa performed uing a corneal topographer to obtain a cutomized ablation profile, combined with a flying pot laer.
Reult
Mean follow-up wa 9.22 ± 2.82 month (range 6–12 month). No intra- or potoperative complication were oberved. Manifet refraction (pherical equivalent) did not change ignificantly (pre-TOCA: −0.14 ± 1.58 diopter [range, –1.75 to +3.00 diopter] to +0.46 ± 1.02 diopter [range, −1.00 to +1.75 diopter]; P = .76), wherea there wa a tatitically ignificant reduction in the refractive atigmatim (pre-TOCA: –1.55 ± 0.60 diopter [range, −3.00 to −0.75 diopter] to –0.70 ± 0.56 diopter [range, −2.00 to −0.25 diopter]; P = .003). Mean uncorrected viual acuity improved ignificantly (P< .001) from 0.45 ± 0.16 (range, 0.2–0.7) to 0.76 ± 0.29 (range, 0.2–1.2) at lat follow-up. Mean bet-corrected viual acuity improved from 0.74 ± 0.22 (range, 0.4–1.0) to 0.95 ± 0.20 (range, 0.6–1.2; P = .002). Eccentricity howed a tatitically ignificant reduction after TOCA treatment (pre-TOCA: 1.59 ± 0.46 mm [range, 0.88–2.23 mm]; pot-TOCA: 0.29 ± 0.09 mm [range, 0.18–0.44 mm]; P< .001).
Concluion
In our mall ample, enhancement LAIK procedure with TOCA appear to improve uncorrected and bet-corrected viual acuity a well a eccentricity in patient with LAIK-induced decentered ablation.
