Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the effect of photodynamic therapy on ubfoveal neovacular membrane related to type 2A idiopathic juxtafoveolar retinal telangiectaia. Deign Interventional cae erie. Method Retropective review of four eye of four patient who underwent photodynamic therapy for ubfoveal neovacular membrane econdary to idiopathic juxtafoveolar retinal telangiectaia. Ocular photodynamic therapy with verteporfin wa performed in all cae uing tandard protocol. Reult are given in term of final viual acuity and neovacular membrane activity baed on clinical examination, fluorecein and indocyanin green angiography, and, in two cae, optical coherence tomography. Reult Baeline viual acuity of 20/30 and 20/40 (×2) wa maintained in three patient after one, two, and three eion of photodynamic therapy repectively, and a follow-up of 23, 21, and 9 month. Leakage pecific to the ubfoveal neovacular membrane ceaed on the fluorecein angiography. In the other patient, the final viion decreaed from 20/50 to 20/200 after four eion of photodynamic therapy and a follow-up of 14 month. Although there wa till mild peritent leakage on the fluorecein angiography, neovacular membrane ize wa unchanged, and no ubretinal fluid wa demontrated on optical coherence tomography. Concluion Data from thi cae erie ugget that photodynamic therapy may be effective in managing ubfoveal neovacular membrane aociated with idiopathic juxtafoveolar retinal telangiectaia, which uually carrie a poor viual prognoi. Propective tudy i required to confirm the beneficial effect of thi treatment.
