Purpoe To report a method of retinal protection uing a vicoadaptive vicoelatic agent during removal of a luxated crytalline len by intravitreal phacoemulification. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 65-year-old man preented with a totally luxated crytalline len in the vitreou cavity of the left eye. After total vitrectomy wa performed, a vicoadaptive vicoelatic agent wa applied over the retina and optic dik. Then the luxated len wa removed by intravitreal phacoemulification. The len dropped everal time during the urgery but the thick vicoadaptive vicoelatic agent protected the poterior retina. Reult In two cae treated thi way, no complication occurred at ix month after urgery. Concluion Thi method may be ueful for protecting the retina from damage by a luxated crytalline len and i le cotly than perfluorocarbon liquid.
