I adjutment of national eye intitute viual function quetionnaire core for general health neceary in randomized trial?

Purpoe To ae whether treatment comparion of National Eye Intitute Viual Function Quetionnaire (NEI-VFQ) core in a clinical trial i influenced by general health to warrant adjuting for it. Deign Two randomized pilot trial. Method Patient enrolled in two randomized pilot trial of ubmacular urgery veru obervation for choroidal neovacularization had quality of life interview (NEI-VFQ and the hort Form-36 Health urvey) 24 month after enrollment. Information on comorbiditie wa collected through chart review. Data from 120 patient were analyzed uing linear regreion method. Reult Adjutment for comorbiditie did not change the magnitude of the treatment effect on NEI-VFQ core. However, adjutment for hort Form-36 phyical and mental component ummarie produced change in the etimated treatment effect when NEI-VFQ core were compared. Concluion Adjutment of NEI-VFQ core for general health may be adviable. The hort Form-36 ummary core may be appropriate for thi purpoe.
