Serum Levels of Triamcinolone Acetonide After Intravitreal Injection

Purpoe To evaluate erum level of triamcinolone acetonide after intravitreal high-doe injection. Deign Propective, interventional cae erie tudy. Method For 20 conecutive patient, venou blood ample were taken before and 13 ± 19 day (range 4 to 92) after an intravitreal injection of 20 to 25 mg triamcinolone acetonide a treatment of edematou macular dieae. Reult erum level of triamcinolone acetonide did not differ ignificantly (P = .174; t tet for paired matche) preoperatively (0 μg/l) and potoperatively (0.065 μg/l ± 0.21 μg/l). In 18 eye (90%), triamcinolone acetonide could not be detected in erum ample. For two patient (10%), erum ample taken 5 day and 7 day after the injection, repectively, contained 0.5 μg/l triamcinolone acetonide and 0.8 μg/l triamcinolone acetonide, repectively. Concluion After an intravitreal high-doe injection of 20 to 25 mg triamcinolone acetonide, triamcinolone acetonide i not, or only marginally, detectable in erum ample obtained within 4 to 92 day after the injection.
