Optical coherence tomographic finding of diociated optic nerve fiber layer appearance

Purpoe To examine the feature of optical coherence tomographic (OCT) finding of diociated optic nerve fiber layer (DONFL) appearance. Deign Cae–control tudy. Method Twenty-four eye undergoing vitrectomy for idiopathic epiretinal membrane or macular hole were examined potoperatively uing OCT. Reult Thirteen of the 24 eye exhibited the DONFL appearance. In thee 13 eye, the OCT image indicated dimple in the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) correponding to each tria. The RNFL thickne (mean ± D) at the dimple ite wa 38.1 ± 9.3 μm. The depth of each dimple wa 28.6 ± 8.0 μm. The depth of all the dimple were limited to the RNFL thickne. In the other 11 eye without the DONFL appearance, OCT image howed no ditinct dimple. Concluion The DONFL appearance i caued by dimple the depth of which are limited to the RNFL thickne.
