Abstract :
Purpoe To invetigate the effect of cataract extraction on the reult of frequency doubling technology (FDT) perimetry in healthy ubject. Deign ingle-center, propective, cae erie. Method We performed FDT threhold C20-1 and Humphrey wedih Interactive Threhold Algorithm (ITA)–fat program within 1 month before and 2 month after phacoemulification in 52 conecutive nonglaucomatou patient. Global indexe, including mean deviation and mean enitivity of FDT and mean deviation of ITA-fat, were compared before and after cataract urgery. Mean enitivity of FDT at variou viual field grid location wa alo compared before and after cataract urgery, a were localized indexe of both FDT and ITA-fat. Reult Mean deviation improved after cataract urgery in both FDT threhold (from −7.09 dB–−2.16 dB) and ITA-fat program (from −6.14 dB–−2.87 dB). The mean enitivity at 17 grid location when the FDT threhold program wa ued ignificantly improved potoperatively (from 19.6 dB–26.13 dB). Potoperative improvement in mean enitivity were alo ignificant at all different ector, but there were no ignificant difference of improvement among them. Potoperative pattern tandard deviation from FDT and ITA-fat did not differ ignificantly from their preoperative value. Concluion Cataract induced a generalized reduction of enitivity in FDT threhold a well a ITA-fat perimetry. Cataract removal did not change pattern tandard deviation of FDT or of ITA-fat. Caution hould be taken when interpreting the reult of FDT perimetry in the eye with cataract.
