Age-related change in ocular and corneal aberration

Purpoe To compare the ocular and corneal higher-order aberration (HA) in eye of different age. Deign Obervational cro-ectional tudy. Method ixty-ix eye of 66 normal ubject (age range 4–69 year; average 37.4 ± 15.4 year) were examined. Wavefront aberration of the whole eye (ocular) and cornea were meaured for the central 4 mm uing a Hartmann-hack aberrometer. Reult Ocular Coma-like aberration (r = 0.270, P = .029), pherical-like aberration (r = 0.531, P = .001), and total HA(r = 0.431, P = .001) were ignificantly correlated with age, wherea the corneal aberration were not ignificantly correlated. The ocular total HA aberration increaed ignificantly after age 50 year. Concluion After 50 year of age, ocular aberration increaed abruptly due to the increae of lenticular HA. Cutomized ablation hould be carefully conidered, epecially in eye of prebyopic age.
