Bilateral endogenou endophthalmiti econdary to endocarditi with negative traneophageal echocardiogram

Purpoe To preent a cae of bilateral endogenou endophthalmiti a the primary manifetation of an aortic root abce and endocarditi, both of which were undetected by traneophageal echocardiogram. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 13-year-old male preented with bilateral endogenou endophthalmiti and previouly undiagnoed ventricular eptal defect, ubaortic tenoi, and a mitral valve cleft. Reult Cardiac evaluation, ytemic evaluation, and traneophageal echocardiogram were negative for endocarditi, but endocarditi and aortic root abce were dicovered at time of cardiac urgery. The patient reponded to ytemic treatment for endocarditi and urgical management of hi cardiac defect. Concluion A cardiac ource for endogenou endophthalmiti hould be conidered in the preence of clinical diagnoi of bacteremia, depite a negative traneophageal echocardiogram and ytemic evaluation.
