Pneumocele—a rare caue of air in the orbit

Purpoe To report a cae of unilateral proptoi and chronic paninuiti in which the diagnoi of pneumocele wa made. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A retropective chart review wa made. Reult A 52-year-old man with chronic paninuiti preented with a 5-mm proptoi and a larger palpebral fiure in the left eye. Computed tomography imaging demontrated an air-filled ma originating from the frontal inu and protruding into the orbit. After endocopic inuotomy and exciion of the mucoal ac through anterior orbitotomy, proptoi improved to 3 mm and palpebral fiure became ymmetric. Concluion A pneumocele i a rare leion of the paranaal inue that may expand into the orbit and may preent with proptoi or motility deficit to the ophthalmologit. Through proper diagnoi and urgical management, the orbital ymptom will reolve.
