Group b treptococcu endogenou endophthalmiti preenting a eptic arthriti and a homonymou hemianopia due to embolic troke

Purpoe To report a cae of group B treptococcu (GB) endogenou endophthalmiti in a patient preenting with eptic arthriti and a homonymou hemianopia due to embolic troke. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 75-year-old woman with eptic arthriti and a homonymou hemianopia due to embolic troke wa examined and found to have endogenou GB endophthalmiti due to bacterial endocarditi. Reult Magnetic reonance imaging howed many eptic emboli to the brain, including the left occipital lobe. Fundu examination howed evidence for endogenou endophthalmiti. Blood and urine culture were poitive for GB. A mitral valve vegetation wa preumed to be the caue of the intracranial eptic emboli and wa demontrated on traneophageal echocardiography. Concluion eptic arthriti and embolic troke are uggetive of endocarditi and epi. Endogenou endophthalmiti in thi cae led to traneophageal echocardiography, which wa diagnotic for endocarditi.
