Abstract :
Purpoe To ummarize the clinical profile and repone to treatment of 4 biopy-proven cae of inflammatory orbital peudotumor extending beyond the orbit. Deign Retropective obervational cae erie. Method Four patientʹ chart were retropectively reviewed. There were three men with extraorbital extenion (two intracranial; one maxillary antrum) and one woman with intracranial dieae that extended into the orbit. The men were 40, 41, and 60 year old; the woman wa 73 year old. Reult Two men with orbital myoiti and mild dicomfort, initially treated with corticoteroid, had aymptomatic intracranial dieae 9 and 12 month after initial preentation. A third man had extenion into the maxillary antrum after initial ymptom of painle diplopia. The woman had intraorbital dieae with minimal dicomfort (dacryoadeniti and myoiti) 5 year after preenting with intracranial dieae in the Meckel cave that ubequently became bilateral. Hitopathologic examination in all cae howed nonpecific inflammation without evidence of vaculiti or granuloma. Concluion Unlike typical cae of nonpecific orbital inflammation, two of thee four cae did not have pain a a prominent feature. Neuroimaging wa eential in diagnoing aymptomatic extraorbital dieae. urgery ha a prominent role in confirming thi diagnoi, primarily by helping to rule out other dieae, uch a thoe with granulomatou inflammation or vaculiti. Additional therapy wa uually not required potoperatively.
