Abstract :
Purpoe
To report two infant with acquired, iolated third nerve palie attributable to intracranial cerebrovacular malformation.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
Two patient are decribed. Each wa examined in a univerity-baed pediatric ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology practice.
Reult
An 8-month-old child preented with a pupil-involving partial left third nerve paly becaue of a partially thromboed fuiform aneurym of the left internal carotid artery. A 3-month-old infant developed a right third nerve paly from a giant arteriovenou fitula ariing from an M2 branch of the right middle cerebral artery.
Concluion
Patient younger than 8 month and 3 month with acquired, iolated third nerve palie reulting from intracranial cerebrovacular malformation could not be found in a MEDLINE earch. In concluion, at even thi young age, acquired, iolated third nerve palie may be the initial manifetation of an intracranial aneurym or fitula. Magnetic reonance imaging (MRI) and MRI-angiography were adequate for detecting thee procee.
