Abstract
Thi tudy wa a propective evaluation of ocular motility diturbance that developed after iodine-125 epicleral plaque brachytherapy for uveal melanoma. Twenty conecutive patient had full orthoptic examination before and after urgery. The mean duration of plaque brachytherapy wa 192.6 hour (range, 90 to 336). The mean follow-up wa 25.4 month (range, 14 to 40). Preoperatively, none of the patient had manifet deviation with cover tet, and all had unretricted duction and verion. Potoperatively, 8 patient were orthophoric, 9 patient developed exotropia, 1 patient became hypertropic, and 2 patient developed exotropia and hypertropia. even (70%) of 10 patient with mucle diinertion and 5 (50%) of 10 patient without mucle diinertion during treatment developed potoperative trabimu. even of the 12 trabimu patient had final viual acuity of le than 20/100. Caue for trabimu after epicleral plaque brachytherapy include mechanical injury, poible ionizing radiation of the plaque, and low viual acuity.—Michael D. Wagoner
