Abstract :
Purpoe Keratoconu i a chronic, noninflammatory dieae of the cornea with onet in early adulthood. A thee year are important to financial and ocial health, keratoconu may have more evere impact on quality of life than would be expected given it clinical everity. We examined the viion-related quality of life of patient in the Collaborative Longitudinal Evaluation of Keratoconu (CLEK) tudy. Deign Cro-ectional tudy. Method The National Eye Intitute-Viual Function Quetionnaire (NEI-VFQ) wa adminitered to 1166 CLEK tudy patient at their firt annual follow-up examination. Aociation between clinical and demographic factor and NEI-VFQ cale core were evaluated. Reult Binocular entrance viual acuity wore than 20/40 wa aociated with lower quality of life core on all cale except General Health and Ocular Pain. A teep keratometric reading (average of both eye) >52 diopter (D) wa aociated with lower core on the Mental Health, Role Difficulty, Driving, Dependency, and Ocular Pain cale. core for CLEK patient on all cale were between patient with category 3 and category 4 age-related macular degeneration (AMD) except General Health, which wa better than AMD patient, and Ocular Pain, which wa wore than AMD patient. Concluion Keratoconu i a dieae of relatively low prevalence that rarely reult in blindne, but becaue it affect young adult, the magnitude of it public health impact i diproportionate to it prevalence and clinical everity
