Abstract :
The author performed a propective, ingle-center clinical trial to ae the efficacy of vicocanalotomy in eye with uncontrolled glaucoma econdary to uveiti. Eleven eye of 11 patient with a mean age of 52.2 year ± 19.9 (D) and inadequate intraocular preure (IOP) control (IOP > 21 mm Hg) under maximum-tolerated medical therapy had vicocanalotomy. There wa a ignificant reduction in IOP from a mean baeline value of 35.1 ± 7.0 mg Hg (range, 23 to 48 mm Hg) to a mean final value of 18.1 ± 4.9 mm Hg (range 12 to 30 mm Hg) (P < .0001) after a mean follow-up of 45.9 ± 11.6 month (range, 23 to 56 month). Complete ucce (IOP between 6 mm and 21 mm Hg, incluive, without medication) wa achieved in 6 (54.5%) eye. Qualified ucce (IOP between 6 and 21 mm Hg, incluive, with one or more antiglaucoma medication and/or goniopuncture) wa achieved in 10 (90.9%) eye. The mean number of antiglaucoma medication wa 3.4 ± 0.8 (range, 2 to 4) and 0.7 ± 1.2 (range 0 to 3), repectively (P = .0004). There were no ignificant potoperative complication. The concluion wa that vicocanalotomy i a afe, effective alternative for treating intractable glaucoma in patient with uveiti. —Michael D. Wagoner
