Abstract :
Purpoe To analyze the incidence of intraocular preure (IOP) elevation following intravitreal triamcinolone injection. Deign Retropective obervational cae erie. Method Chart of patient undergoing intravitreal triamcinolone injection in one clinical practice were reviewed. A preure elevation wa defined a a preure of 24 mm Hg or higher during follow-up. Reult There were 89 patient with a mean age of 76.4 year. The mean baeline IOP wa 14.9 mm Hg with a mean change of 8.0 mm Hg. Thirty-ix patient (40.4%) experienced a preure elevation to 24 mm Hg or higher at a mean of 100.6 day (D = 83.1 day) after treatment. Of nonglaucomatou patient with baeline IOP of 15 mm Hg or above, 60.0% experienced a preure elevation, compared with only 22.7% of thoe with baeline preure below 15 mm Hg (relative rik = 2.1, P < .01). In glaucoma patient, 6 of 12 (50%) experienced a preure elevation, and thi elevation wa not correlated with baeline preure. Thirty-two patient (36.0%) received repeat injection, and there wa no difference in the incidence of procedure elevation in patient receiving multiple injection veru thoe receiving a ingle injection. Preure elevation wa controlled with topical medication in all patient. Concluion IOP elevation after intravitreal triamcinolone injection i common and may take an extended period of time to manifet. The proportion of patient who developed a preure elevation to at leat 24 mm Hg wa much higher for thoe with baeline IOP 15 mm Hg or greater.
