  • Abstract
Purpoe To provide an update on imaging of the brain and orbit for ophthalmologit. Deign Literature review. Method A ytematic Englih-language medline earch and ummary of recent literature on imaging of brain and orbit wa performed. Reult Computed tomography and magnetic reonance (MR) canning are the maintay for the evaluation of mot diorder involving the brain and orbit. Computed tomography angiography and magnetic reonance angiography are relatively newer application that are ueful for the evaluation of arterial and venou diorder. pecial equence uch a fat uppreion and fluid attenuation inverion recovery are ueful technique for pecific ophthalmic indication. Diffuion weighted imaging and perfuion-weighted imaging are improving the evaluation of acute troke. Functional MRI, poitron emiion tomography canning and ingle photon emiion computed tomography may provide ueful information regarding brain or tumor metabolim. Magnetic reonance pectrocopy ha expanded our knowledge of brain function. Newer imaging tudie have improved our diagnotic abilitie on many front, including new equence, new application of imaging tudie, and functional imaging of brain. Concluion New imaging technique for brain and orbit have an increaed potential for improving diagnotic yield. Accurate and timely communication with the neuroradiologit can optimize the precription and interpretation of imaging in ophthalmology.
