Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe a rare cae of rhinolith formation 21 year after dacryocytorhinotomy (DCR) with rubber gum and polyethylene tubing urgery.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A 23-year-old-woman underwent uneventful left DCR with rubber gum and polyethylene tubing for chronic dacryocytiti. Twenty-one year later, he preented with purulent rhinorrhea, naal obtruction, and facial pain. Computed tomography revealed a radiopaque denity in the left naal cavity.
Reult
A rubber gum foreign body embedded with granulation tiue and a huge rhinolith wa removed endocopically through the anterior nare. After urgery, the patient reported immediate and complete relief of ymptom.
Concluion
Rhinolith can develop progreively everal year after DCR a a reult of foreign body reaction to rubber gum or polyethylene tubing. Thi rare complication hould be ruled out in patient complaining of purulent rhinorrhea who underwent DCR with tubing before the early 1980.
