Abstract :
Purpoe To decribe change of the foveal photoreceptor layer uing optical coherence tomography (OCT) in central erou chorioretinopathy (CC) and evaluate the correlation with viual acuity (VA) lo. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method We tudied 28 eye with acute or chronic CC uing high-reolution OCT. The tomographic finding of the detached foveal photoreceptor layer were compared with VA. ixteen eye alo were evaluated after foveal reattachment. Reult The outer photoreceptor layer (OPL) in the detached fovea wa preerved in 14 eye, of which 13 had ymptom for <1 year and atrophic in 14 eye with ymptom for >1 year. The preerved OPL had an even profile in 7 eye and a granulated profile in 7 eye. Mean VA wa 0.19 logMAR with a preerved OPL and 0.72 logMAR with an atrophic OPL (P <.001). Cae een after the detachment reolved included 6 eye with preerved even OPL, 5 eye with preerved granulated OPL, and 5 eye with atrophic OPL. Mean final VA wa 0.06 logMAR in eye with preerved OPL and 0.90 logMAR in eye with atrophic OPL (P <.001). The VA improved in 73% of eye with preerved OPL and no eye with atrophic OPL (P = .025). The VA recovered completely in 83% of eye with preerved even OPL and no eye with preerved granulated OPL (P = .015). Concluion High-reolution OCT demontrate change in the foveal photoreceptor layer in CC that highly correlate with VA lo and may predict viual recovery after macular reattachment.
